Too much has happened to Qondi. She had to put an end to it. Indeed her she could no longer sit pretty and play the perfect Queen. Especially now with things gone worse between she and Fezile.
It was different before. When all she needed to do was expose Bhekifa for his lies and cruelty. A happy ending with Fezile seemed to have been the only thing to get her through her horror. But all that painful experience did was beckon another one.
When Fezile levelled all those accusations at her, hurling all sorts of hurtful words her way, it all started to lool and feel pretty pointless. Why should she sit here and mourn the death of a man that ruined her entire life? Was there any good in being the gracious Ndlunkulu that everyone loved when, in reality, she was trapped and threatened against her will?
They say a pain turns a heart cold. Having to convince Fezile to stay, not to say all those things struck a cord. She’s gone from raising hell in the chief’s lodge and breaking things to handing Mbodla a whipping for aiding and abetting Bhekifa.
Sihle saw this as an opportunity to paint Qondi red. Citing as many reasons for Zweli and the royal court to let her step down as the queen. She was a wreck and was bringing the royal house into disrepute. But we all know how true Sihle isn’t. But she didn’t expect that Qondi would see clear through her.
