
Talented actor, Siyabonga Twala
Siyabonga Twala is a household name best known for his roles in local soapies Generations, Rhythm City and Isibaya. See more of him on Galaxy of Stars on 9 August.
Born and raised in Durban’s Umlazi Township, he began acting in 1989. His screen-acting debut came in 1996 in the TV movie Born Free: A New Adventure.
In 1998 he turned down a TV role feeling he was not ready for a long term commitment to television. But that all changed in 2003 when he joined the cast of Gaz’lam and Soul City.
In 2005 he landed a role in local soapie Scandal, 2007 saw his first appearance on Generations. In 2013 he joined Muvhango, Rhythm City and currently plays Mpiyakhe Zungu in Isibaya.
He has won numerous accolades and awards for his work. In 2007 he won the Golden Horn for Best Actor in a TV Soap and the Outstanding Lead Actor award at the Inaugural Royalty Soapie Awards in 2014.
Twala is also a well-known theatre practitioner.
