The deep’s gonna getcha – and leading the fray this weekend, is none other than the master, house talisman, DJ Mbuso.
Every music genre has that one name that can’t be forgotten. Where the local deep is concerned, DJ Mbuso is undeniably that name. Born and bred in Soweto, Mbuso has spent the past 18 years making audiences sweat it out on dance floors across the continent, with his bewitching talent.
This Saturday 21 December 2014, house legend Vinny Da Vinci welcomes this exceptional talent to Vinny’s House. Tune in to Mzansi Magic Music from 19:00 to 21:00 to see the house dons go head-to-head. Vinny kicks things off with his blazing set from 19:00 to 20:00. Straight after, DJ Mbuso takes over for a full hour. Are you as excited as we are?
About DJ Mbuso
Born in Orlando West, Soweto, DJ Mbuso began his career in 1996 while studying Computer Systems at Vaal Technikon. by creating mix tapes and later, with his brother, started one of the biggest annual parties in Soweto. During 1997 he freelanced until he secured a residency at “Stage” nightclub before winning the “Camel Vinyl Experience Meltdown” in 1999. Mbuso then became resident at “Lilo Productions” events and in early 2000 got the prime weekend dance slot on youth radio station, YFM. His first compilation, ‘Urban House Mix’, was released in 1999 by Sony Music. In 2001 DJ Mbuso teamed up with partner Harael Salkow and bought the “Sugartrax” vinyl store in Rosebank that he’d been working at for the last two years and converted it into the Soul Candi dance brand. “Soul Candi Session 1″ was released in 2003. His first self-produced album, “Shades of Maf & So”, was released in 2005, and in 2006 he split from Soul Candi and moved Phezulu Records as an independent project to Johannesburg. He quietly developed his skill and searched Gauteng for the hottest music. He started making mix tapes and together with his brother started one of the biggest annual parties in Soweto.
