The 2015 SANAA Africa four-day long Arts Festival continues to celebrate our country and continents’s creative talent with the SANAA Africa Poetry Festival on the 22nd of May, at Moyo, Zoo Lake.

SANNA Africa will celebrate the work of Athol Williams, Afurakan Thabiso Mohare, Nova Masango and Vuyelwa Maluleke with an exclusive poetry reading session.

Athol Williams is a South African social philosopher and poet. His poetry explores the mysterious connections that exist between people, our connectedness, and our connections with nature. His poems are occasionally infused with humour to balance some of his topics.

Afurakan Thabiso Mohare is the leading voice of Johannesburg’s underground slam poetry. Well-known for his stage improvisations of hip-hop tunes, his style has caught the attention of many slam poets and writers across Africa thanks to its rhythm and provocative nature.

Nova Masango is a poet, writer and feminist based in Johannesburg. An anthropology postgraduate, who is deeply passionate about literature, social justice, women’s rights, the excellence of Africa, and the arts.

Vuyelwa Maluleke is a Johannesburg based spoken word artist, scriptwriter and actor. She has a BA in dramatic arts from the University of Witwatersrand. She describes herself as a storyteller and loves the relationship between writing and performance.

Join these dynamic and prolific poets, as we celebrate the unity in Africa’s creative diversity. It’s an evening not to be missed. Book your tickets and get more information on the official SANAA Africa website.
