Clash of the Choirs: Seen on social media

It’s been an intense battle on Clash of the Choirs, and with each passing week and one choirmaster falling, the competition has gotten stiffer, the choirmasters more fiercely competitive, and very vocal on their social media accounts on their struggles, strategies, and desire to win. The remaining choirmasters, Kelly, JR and iFani are using their social media accounts to sound off, show off their choirs, encourage their fans and rally their troops for battle.

Team iFani came out in their full glory at the Cape Town Carnival on Saturday, entertaining the revellers with a flash mob. iFani expresssed his appreciation for the dedication and professionalism his team showed, and didn’t wait for anybody to tell him how great the performance they put on was.

Once top contender, Team Kelly have found themselves in the bottom two twice in a row these past two weeks, and were in real danger of being eliminated this past Sunday when after the clash-off, the judges’ votes were split right down the middle between Team Kelly and Team Bucie, and they had to go backstage to argue it out and come to a decision. A clearly very relieved and grateful Kelly let the tears flow when her team was saved, and granted a chance to sing another week. She expressed her relief on Instagram in touching tribute to her choir.

“As much as I was ready to throw in the towel, I was not ready to let go of these beautiful souls that I have grown to love so dearly, Im really thankful to God for another chance to fight to remain in the game… I really love my Kids and want the best for them. Thank you to everyone who’s been #TeamGold from Day one, your support is King…#TeamKellyKhumalo #highlyfavored #MyTestimony #WeStayWinning” her caption reads.

After a rocky start for Mpumalanga during the auditions phase, and the nation questioning JR’s final picks, it began to become clear that Mzansi at large did not consider Team JR a contender for the prize at all. Their choirmaster took all those negative comments writing his choir off, and used them as fuel for the beastly singing machine that Team JR has shown itself to be since the competition kicked off. It’s clear JR has a point to prove and naysayers to silence.
