The death of Zwelekhe Masondo came much too early and caught everyone by surprise. Especially since there were no signs that we looking at a dying man. Now the cast and crew, his family and friends are left with the unfortunate task of mourning the loss of a soldier.

In the midst of the heartache – not to mention uMam’Doris’ relentless side-eye and buckets loads of shade-throwing – Xolile, as Zwelakhe’s next of kin, receives a shocking call from the forensics lab. It turns out large traces of a poisonous drug, found in small doses in over-the-counter flu meds, was found in Zweli’s dead body.

This is what, in fact, killed him. Not the heart attack that we were led to believe. Wait, so Zweli was murdered? No ways!

The staggering news, as hard to believe as it was, was somehow anchored by the things that were going on on the Kofifi set. From lights falling violently out of their sockets to a strange presence. uMam Cynthia and make-up artist (who also doubles as isangoma) Thabisile raised alarm that something was terrible wrong. More so after usno’Coffee Girl’ Zoe spotted the ghost of Zweli in the corridors. Did you guys see that? Earie!

In a moving cleansing ceremony steered by uThabisile on set, a downright haunting message contained in a riddle, was revealed. She belched out the words “The seed rose up to strangle the tree that created it”.

How ominous and what could that possibly mean?
